From there, there is opportunity to move into a general manager, lodging manager, food service manager, or sales manager position.  Also, some managers are able to specialize in the food industry, to become an executive chef.  &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;There are many different levels of management work and all come with slightly different responsibly and income levels.  The range of average yearly salaries for hospitality managers starts at $25,000 and goes up to $70,000.  However, the nicer the restaurant or hotel, the higher the salary will be.   Therefore, there is opportunity to earn more then these average salaries.  Managers also receive perks, like free food or lodging.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;What are the advantages and disadvantages of earning a degree in hospitality/restaurant management online?&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This is a field in which it is especially advantageous to get hands-on experience working in restaurants, hotels, and other hospitality service businesses.  Since much of the job of a hospitality manager requires working with people, logging hours in a manager position is the best way to learn the ropes.  Inversely, it is for this reason, that online learning is also a good option.  By taking an online program, aspiring hotel or restaurant managers can also work full time in the industry to get hands-on experience.  The only warning with an online educational option in their field is that students need to make sure to balance their work schedule with the hours that are needed to successfully meet the requirements of their online courses.&lt;/p&gt;
