Industrial Engineering

Industrial design & engineering is a discipline that melds aesthetics and usability, creating physical products that are both functional and stylish. Industrial designers and industrial engineers work on projects as diverse as furniture, buildings, vehicles, and household appliances. The curriculum for a degree in industrial design focuses on concepts such as aesthetics, utility, usability, ergonomics, and other topics that involve both practical and theoretical work. Core studies in mathematics and physics also have an important place in the course curriculum. Industrial design graduates typically follow a career path that concentrates on research and development in a particular engineering specialty.
