Family & Marriage Therapy
Marriage and family therapists work with couples and families to help them communicate and resolve their problems. Marriage and family therapists may be employed by non-profit organizations, the government, or may be self-employed and work in private or group practice. A master's degree in counseling or family therapy is typically the expected training, and most states require an official license in order to practice. The median annual salary for marriage and family therapists in 2006 was $43,210. Job prospects in this field are excellent and experts predict a 30 percent increase in employment for marriage and family therapists by 2016.
