Not all scholarships opportunities are intensely competitive and traditional. Therefore, weird and wacky scholarships may play an important role in financing these students' education. Here are 10 wacky vocational scholarships to consider:

1. Make It Yourself With Wool Contest
If you would like to work in the wool industry you will definitely want to look into this scholarship offered by the American Sheep Industry Association. Candidates must construct and model their own garments made from wool or a wool blend. There are winners at both state and national levels; national winners receive awards of $1,000 to $2,000.
2. American Association of Candy Technologists (AACT)
Do you want to work as a candy technologist, manufacturer or factory owner? Then check out this scholarship for those with a keen interest in candy making as demonstrated through previous work experience, research or study.
3. Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) Scholarships
The University of California at Berkeley offers a handful of different or odd scholarships to Jewish students who are studying a vocation. Candidates must show definite financial need and be involved in community service projects.
4. The Pepsi Foundation Hospitality Scholarships
The Pepsi Foundation offers a scholarship to students studying the vocation of hotel management and hospitality. Students must reside in Washington D.C, be graduates of Marriott Hospitality High School and have clocked a minimum of 250 hours working in the industry before applying. Awards range from $500 to $3,000.
5. The Gilroy Elks Lodge
This organization offers up to $5,000 in scholarships to anyone studying a vocation and living in Gilroy, Morgan Hill or San Juan Bautista.
6. The San Benito County Cattlewomen's Association
This organization offers several scholarships to any woman studying a vocation dealing with cattle whose mother, grandmother or aunt is a member of the organization.
7. American Society for Enology and Viticulture
This society offers several awards to those students studying the trade of wine making and growing grapes. There are no predetermined award amounts but winners receive quarterly living stipends.
8. American Welding Society Scholarships
Welding students learning skills such as allied joining, brazing, soldering and thermal spraying are eligible for this scholarship.
9. A. O. Smith Water Heaters Award
This is a scholarship for apprentices of plumbing, heating and cooling contractors (PHCC). Candidates must attend a two-year vocational school and participate in community service.
10. Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest
If you are interested in the farming trade you may consider applying for this scholarship; one that has become quite well known for being so very unusual. Students have 90 seconds to call ducks demonstrating four calls; hail, feed, comeback and mating. The best duck caller wins $1500.
