50 Military Scholarships

Scholarships for Military StudentsUniversities around the United States show their support for U.S. troops by offering scholarships for military personnel.

Here are 50 scholarships for members of the military (and a few for their spouses). They range from a few hundred dollars to full rides, so check them out and don't let tuition be the barrier to your education.


 

  1. Aage & Margareta Moller Scholarship for Veterans of the War in Iraq & Afghanistan
  2. This scholarship is awarded for full time undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Texas-Dallas. Applicants must be veterans of the Armed Forces who have served active duty in the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq.
  3. Active Duty Green to Gold Scholarship
  4. Eligible applicants are active duty Army personnel pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree while remaining on active duty. Applicants must also be U.S. citizens, have been on active duty for at least two years, be under the age of 31, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, have a GT score of at least 110, have an APFT score of at least 180 taken within the last six months, and be eligible to re-enlist. Applicants convicted of a domestic violence crime are ineligible. The scholarship can include tuition and educational expenses.
  5. Alabama National Guard Educational Assistance Program
  6. Alabama National Guard members in good standing with a federally recognized unit are eligible to apply for this $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must be pursuing and undergraduate or graduate degree at a public college, university, or technical school in Alabama.
  7. American Ex-Prisoner of War, Peter Connacher Memorial Scholarship
  8. Applicants must be former American Prisoners of War and their descendants and must be able to prove their status or lineal descent. Eligible applicants must also be U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens, be residents of Oregon, be enrolled full-time, and file a FAFSA.
  9. American Legion Edgar A. Fisher Post #60 Scholarship
  10. Veterans, their spouses, and their children pursuing an undergraduate degree full-time at Valley City State University are eligible for this $300 scholarship. Applicants must also have at least sophomore standing and have earned a 2.0 minimum GPA the preceding semester. Residents of Barnes County, ND are given preference.
  11. Captain Sean Grimes Nursing Scholarship Fund
  12. Full time students who are Army Reservists, Army National Guard members, active duty Army, and honorably discharged veterans pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees at Michigan State University College of Nursing are eligible for this scholarship.
  13. Casey Laine Armed Forces Scholarship
  14. Current members of the Armed Forces, ROTC members, and honorably discharged veterans pursuing undergraduate degrees at accredited postsecondary institutions may apply. Eligible applicants must also have graduated from high school in the top 50% of their class and reside in one of the following Texas counties: Aransas, Bee, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, Refugio, or San Patricio.
  15. Comer Family Scholarship Endowment
  16. Students attending Oregon State University College of Pharmacy and pursuing an undergraduate degree, who are members of the ROTC, active duty military, reserve, or National Guard are eligible to apply.
  17. Dr. James R. & Lois A. Anderson Endowed Scholarship
  18. Eligible applicants for this $300 scholarship must be active duty Air Force members or their dependents. Applicants must also have a minimum 2.0 GPA, be pursuing an undergraduate degree at any Central Texas College campus, and demonstrate financial need.
  19. George Washington Award
  20. Applicants will be judged on financial need and academic achievement, and must be U.S. military personnel or dependents and full time undergraduate students at Schiller International University.
  21. Georgia's HERO Scholarship Program
  22. Georgia residents who are active or disabled Georgia National Guard or U.S. Military Reserve members may apply for this $2,000 scholarship. To be eligible, applicants must have served a minimum of 181 consecutive days in an international location designated as a combat zone. Spouses and children who are 25 years of age or younger and were born prior to the term of service or within nine months of service. Applicants must also be pursuing an undergraduate degree at a postsecondary institution.
  23. Illinois National Guard (ING) Grant Program
  24. This scholarship, covering tuition and fees for up to eight semesters, is available to students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees at Illinois public colleges or universities approved by the ISAC, who have served at least one year in active duty or are currently on active duty. Applicants must be enlistees in the Illinois National Guard, up to the rank of captain.
  25. Indiana National Guard Supplemental Grant
  26. Applicants must have been residents of Indiana since December 31st of the previous year and must be active Indiana Air and Army National Guard members. Eligible applicants must also be full time students attending Ball State University, Indiana University, Indiana State University, Ivy Tech State College, Purdue, Vincennes University, or University of Southern Indiana, and pursuing an undergraduate degree.
  27. Iowa National Guard Educational Assistance Grants
  28. Eligible applicants must be National Guard members and residents of Iowa who are pursuing undergraduate degrees at a state university or college in Iowa. The scholarship is $1,000.
  29. James J. Lennon Memorial Scholarship
  30. Undergraduate students at Park University, who are present or former Armed Forces members, their children, or grandchildren, may apply for this $1,000 scholarship. Eligible applicants must also have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be majoring in economics or business administration.
  31. Jodi Callahan Scholarship
  32. Applicants must be full time Guards, Reserve officers, or Air Force active duty personnel. Eligible applicants must be pursuing a master’s degree in non-technical field, attending an accredited postsecondary institution, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship is $1,000.
  33. Katherine Brown Scholarship
  34. Undergraduate students at University of Southern Mississippi who are active military members and their dependents may apply. The scholarship will be awarded based on academic achievement and potential.
  35. Kentucky National Guard Tuition Award
  36. Kentucky National Guard members may apply for this award, which covers in-state tuition at any Kentucky state institution.
  37. Lieutenant Colonel Joseph & Pauline Bonfiglio Memorial Endowed Scholarship
  38. Past and active U.S. Armed Forces members and their children who are full time undergraduate students at Ashland University may apply. Eligible applicants must also have a minimum 2.5 GPA and be U.S. citizens. Applicants will be judged on academic.
  39. LTG Douglas D. Buchholz Memrial Scholarship
  40. Active enlisted soldiers stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia may apply for this $2,000 scholarship. Eligible applicants must be enrolled at an accredited U.S. college or university and have a minimum 2.5 GPA and have completed at least 15 semester hours. A scholarship board, under the guidance of the Fort Gordon Command Sergeant Major, will make the award recommendation.
  41. Maria C. Jackson-General George A. White Scholarships
  42. U.S. Armed Forces members, past and present, and their children may apply. Eligible applicants must also be enrolled in a postsecondary school in Oregon, have a minimum 3.75 GPA in high school or college, and be Oregon residents.
  43. AAAA Scholarship
  44. Army Aviation Association of America, Inc. (AAAA) members and their spouses, unmarried children and grandchildren and unmarried siblings may apply for these $4,000 scholarships. AAAA applicants must have been members for at least one year at the time of application and be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. There are some awards designated specifically for enlisted members, warrant officers, company grades, and Department of the Army Civilian members.
  45. Active Duty Military Scholarship
  46. Students enrolled at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business who are active duty members of the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy, Marines, or Drilling National Guard may apply for this scholarship. The amount of the scholarship pays the difference between current standard tuition and $250.
  47. AFA/Grantham University Online Degree Scholarship
  48. Gratham University students who are AFA members or their dependents and are studying computer science, computer engineering technology, criminal justice, homeland security, engineering management, electronics engineering technology, software engineering technology, general studies, information systems, or interdisciplinary programs may apply. The full four-year scholarship is worth $28,000.
  49. AFCEA General Emmett Paige Scholarship
  50. Active duty members and veterans of the Armed Forces and their spouses and dependents are may apply. Eligible applicants must be enrolled full time at an accredited 4-year college or university in the U.S., be U.S. citizens, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be majoring in electrical, chemical, systems, or aerospace engineering, physics, mathematics, science education, mathematics education, management information systems, technology management, computer science, fields supporting U.S. intelligence enterprises or national security relevant to the mission of the AFCEA, or other C41-related fields.
  51. AMVETS Scholarship
  52. Veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Army National Guard, and Air National Guard and their immediate family members may apply for this $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need, must not be employees or family members of an AMVETS National Headquarters employee or Devry University employee, and must not be receiving 100% tuition reimbursement.
  53. Andrew J. Zabierek Memorial Scholarship
  54. Honorably discharged Massachusetts residents who are pursuing a post-secondary or technical degree are eligible to apply for this $1,500 scholarship.
  55. Andy Borg - VFW Scholarship
  56. University of Wisconsin students who are Air Force ROTC members or veterans may apply for this award.
  57. Armed Forces Scholarship
  58. Students at William Mitchell College of Law who are veterans of the U.S. military active duty or reserves are eligible to apply.
  59. Bellevue University Purple Heart Scholarship
  60. Armed services members who have received a Purple Heart Medal and are attending Bellevue University are eligible to apply. Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to 5 students.
  61. Blewitt Endowed Military Scholarship
  62. This scholarship is available to students at the University of Maryland University College who have completed 15 undergraduate credits and are service members who have been wounded in the global war on terror, active duty single parents, their spouses’ minor children, or their step children. Applicants must also have a 2.5 minimum GPA and be able to demonstrate financial need. Enlisted personnel will receive preference over officers.
  63. Disabled War Veterans Scholarships
  64. Eligible applicants for these $2,500 scholarships must be attending an accredited two-year or four-year college university and be majoring in computer engineering, computer engineering technology, information systems security, computer network systems, information systems security, computer information systems, technology management, information systems management, physics, electronics engineering technology, computer science, mathematics, mathematics education, science education, fields related to the support of U.S. Intelligence or national security enterprises with application of the mission of the AFCEA, electrical, systems, computer, or aerospace engineering, and other related C41 fields. Applicants must also be active duty personnel, reservists, National Guard personnel, or honorably discharged U.S. Armed Forces veterans who are disabled as a result of their service in Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan.
  65. Dr. Aurelio M. Caccomo Family Foundation Memorial Scholarship
  66. Members of the National Guard, Reservists, and veterans pursuing an undergraduate degree may apply for this $3,000 scholarship. Eligible applicants must submit a FAFSA, be able to demonstrate financial need, and be U.S. citizens.
  67. Fund for Veterans' Education
  68. Veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom who are enrolled as undergraduates in an accredited institution may apply for this award. Eligible applicants must also have been deployed for 60 days and must have applied for and accepted other military educational benefits and need-based grants.
  69. Hodson Trust Star Scholarship - Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans
  70. This award, which covers tuition, room, books, and mandatory fees at Johns Hopkins University, Hood College, Washington College, or St. John’s College Annapolis, is available to veterans. To be eligible, applicants must also be able to provide proof of 60-day deployment after 9/11 in the Afghanistan or Iraq conflict and must be Maryland residents.
  71. HSBC-North America Military Family Scholarship
  72. This scholarship to University of Maryland University College is available to active duty soldiers and their spouses. Eligible applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  73. Imagine America LDRSHIP Award
  74. Members of the U.S. Armed Forces who are reservists, current, active, honorably discharged, or retired may apply for this $5,000 scholarship.. Eligible applicants must be attending an Imagine America or Career College Association school with a 95% attendance record, a minimum GPA of 3.5, and submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty member or administrator at their school.
  75. Imagine America Military Award Program (MAP)
  76. Members of the U.S. Armed forces who are on active duty, in the reserves, honorably discharged, or retired, may apply for this $1,000 scholarship to a participating career college.
  77. Lt. General H.G. "Pete" Taylor Endowed Scholarship
  78. This scholarship is available to Tarleton State University undergraduate students who are U.S. Armed Forces members, retirees, or their dependents pursuing a degree in education, education administration, or school counselor certification.
  79. LTG Douglas D. Buchholz Memorial Scholarship
  80. Soldiers stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia who are majoring in physics, science education, mathematics, mathematics education, computer science, or electrical, chemical, systems, or aerospace engineering at an accredited U.S. college may apply for this $2,000 scholarship. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and have completed at least 15 semester hours.
  81. Marine Corps Sgt Jeannette L. Winters Memorial Scholarship
  82. U.S. Marines with a 3.0 GPA may apply for this $2,000 scholarship. Eligible applicants must be majoring in physics, mathematics, science education, mathematics education, computer science, electronics, management information systems, technology management, majors related to the support national security or U.S. Intelligence relating to the AFCEA, electrical, chemical, systems, or aerospace engineering, or related fields.
  83. Military Student Support Fund Scholarship
  84. This scholarship at the University of Maryland University College is available to students who are active duty military members. Graduate applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Undergraduate members must have a 2.5 minimum GPA and demonstrate financial need.
  85. Overseas Spouse Education Assistance Program
  86. This $2,500 scholarship is available to spouses of active duty soldiers who reside with their spouse at their assignment and are first-time college students pursuing undergraduate degrees.
  87. Pitsenbarger Award
  88. United State Air Force enlistees who are graduating from the Community College of the Air Force and are pursuing bachelor’s degrees may apply for this $400 award. To apply, students must submit a narrative statement explaining their extracurricular activities and other qualifications.
  89. Stateside Spouse Education Assistance Program
  90. This scholarship is available to spouses or widows of active duty or retired active duty soldiers. Applicants must be attending a Department of Education approved institution and be residing in the U.S.
  91. The Captain Jodi Callahan Memorial Scholarship
  92. Students pursuing a Master’s degree in a non-technical field of study is who are full-time Air National Guard, full-time Air Force Reserve officers or enlisted, or active duty Air Force may apply for this $1,000 scholarship. Eligible applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, submit an application essay, and submit a letter of recommendation for their Air Force commander or supervisor.
  93. The Colonel Richard A Christie Memorial Fund
  94. This scholarship is awarded to a former enlisted marine who is leaving the Marine Corps to attend a four-year college or university and has overcome major obstacles and demonstrated extraordinary integrity and courage. The award amount is $250 per month, for a total of $3,000.
  95. University of Phoenix AMVETS Scholarship
  96. These University of Phoenix scholarships, worth $4,000 each are awarded to active duty members and veterans of the Armed Forces and their families. The scholarship amount will be applied to the recipients’ University of Phoenix account as a non-cash credit.
  97. University of Phoenix Asia/Pacific Military Scholarship Program
  98. These $4,000 University of Phoenix scholarships are awarded to Armed Forces members currently serving in the Asia/Pacific region. Applicants must be pursuing a master’s degree in business at a University of Phoenix campus in the region.
  99. Veterans of Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Iraqi Freedom Scholarship
  100. Active duty and honorably discharged U.S. military veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom of Operation Enduring Freedom are eligible to apply for these $2,500 scholarships. Applicants must be attending accredited institutions in United States and majoring in computer engineering, computer engineering technology, information systems security, computer network systems, information systems security, computer information systems, technology management, information systems management, physics, electronics engineering technology, computer science, mathematics, mathematics education, science education, fields related to the support of U.S. Intelligence or national security enterprises with application to the mission of the AFCEA, electrical, systems, computer, or aerospace engineering, and other related C41 fields.
