Marine Mechanic
Ask a Question
Marine mechanics work to repair and maintain the equipment which powers small and large boats, cruise ships, and freighters. Marine mechanics usually undergo study at an accredited technical or vocational school in order to obtain a certificate, and they may receive on-the-job training as well. The U.S. military also offers education in marine mechanics as part of a service commitment in certain branches. Job prospects for marine mechanics are good; the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 19 percent increase in employment in this field by 2016.
