Carpentry Science Degrees

Carpentry science training programs are often offered by vocational schools. These programs teach the necessary skills for carpenters just starting out in the field to build structures and design buildings and homes. A carpentry science training program usually includes both theoretical and applied course work, and enables individuals to work both as a freelancer and in large construction companies. Carpenters make a median of $38,067 annually.

I live in Fremont, Ohio. My son, 12 yrs old, has ADHD but loves to do things with his hands. I was wondering if there's a class he can take in the summer. Any volunteers?

It sounds like you might have a budding carpenter on your hands! Check out these arts and crafts camps in your state of Ohio. If you don't want to send him away to camp, there are plenty of summer recreation programs available through the Fremont parks district to keep him occupied.

Without a high school diploma can I become a carpenter?
Submitted on: April 13, 2012

You don't need a high school diploma to be a carpenter but you will be a better carpenter if you have one. Taking a Construction and wood shop class in high school will only benefit you in this field of work. Also to be a master carpenter you would need to attend a carpentry apprenticeship, which requires a high school diploma or GED.
