To become an air traffic controller you will need to attend a college or a university that has FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) approved courses and a path to the degree. In a year and a half or two years you will finish with the associates degree necessary for the position. Once you are done with the degree, you will need to apply for a job through the FAA. If you qualify for a job, you will need to attend a 2-3 month training at the FAA Academy. Once you pass the Academy, you will need another year or two of training on location at the assigned location of your job.
