Licensed Vocational Nurse
Ask a Question
Licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) work to care for the sick, disabled, or elderly under the direction of a team of physicians or registered nurses. LVNs perform medical tests, take blood pressure, and watch to ensure the patients are comfortable. LVNs must pass a licensing exam to work in the field. This can be taken after completing a state-approved practical nursing program. A high school diploma is required for entry. In 2006, LVNs made a median of $36,000, with the highest earners making more than $50,480.
