Repairs and technical support specialists are responsible for providing technical assistance, support, and advice to customers. Tech support can include help desk specialists, computer support specialists, and customer service specialists. While some tech support specialists will work in a help desk environment, others will meet clients face to face or make house calls to repair their problems. Repair and tech support consists of diagnosing and resolving problems, offering advice via telephone, in person, or email, and installing, modifying, cleaning, and repairing hardware and software. Computer repair and tech support specialists need to be excellent problem solvers and communicators. Most will possess a computer science, information technology, or relative degree or certification.
