With greater emphasis now being placed on disease prevention to reduce the costs of healthcare, now is a favorable time to pursue a career in public health. Employment in most branches of public health is expected to grow by over 20 percent between 2006 and 2016. Salaries of public health professionals range widely, from the mid-30's into six digits.
