Overview
Founded more than 50 years ago in Knoxville, TN, Fountainhead College of Technology continues its tradition of providing quality professional education and training, offering one certificate program and five degree programs in the fields of healthcare and computer technology. The institution is dedicated to the task of graduating well-trained, positively oriented and properly motivated individuals desired by industry, and features modular program for students to cross-train in more than one discipline.

Student Appeal
In keeping with today's busy lifestyles, Fountainhead has created a Learning Management System (LMS) that offers hands-on training online for students to maintain ongoing, meaningful contact with their instructors and classmates through chats, threaded discussion boards, file transfer services, online assessments, interactive asynchronous lessons, and student feedback. These services enable Fountainhead to offer Distance Education programs that combine the same advanced, practical training as its on-campus programs, with the flexibility and convenience of online classes.

Financial
Financial aid is available to those who qualify in the form of grants and loans. Additional information on eligibility requirements, scholarships, veteran benefit and institutional programs is available by appointment from the Financial Aid Office.

  • Computer ProgrammingComputer Programming
    This Associate of Occupational Science program, also available as online distance education, provides training and education in the fundamentals of computers, with an intensive focus on computer programming. Students acquire problem-solving, troubleshooting and repair skills for computers and basic computer-network configurations, becoming proficient in Visual C#.NET, Visual Basic.NET, ASP.NET, XML, Java, and Structured Query Language (SQL) in preparation for Microsoft Certified Applications Developer certification (MCAD) or employment in the rapidly growing computer field.
  • Computer Technology: Application DevelopmentComputer Technology: Application Development
    This Bachelor of Applied Science concentration, also available as online distance education, features programming courses on ethics in information technology, project management and planning, proposals and solutions design, and technical writing. Students gain the skills necessary to coordinate the planning, construction, maintenance and scalability of computer application systems, valuable for employment as technical support to a marketing or sales team, as well as designing software and hardware systems as an application developer.
  • Computer Technology: System AnalystComputer Technology: System Analyst
    In addition to courses on operating systems, IP quality of service, and systems analysis, this Bachelor of Applied Science program also presents National Security Agency's CNSS standard 4016 Information Assurance for Risk Analysts, providing a thorough comprehension of computer systems analysis and systems development to the students. Graduates learn the effective communication, project management, interpersonal and critical thinking skills essential for employment as a problem-solving system analyst.
  • Electronic TechnologyElectronic Technology
    This Associate of Applied Science program presents the basics of electronics and the skills of troubleshooting and repair necessary for one to keep up with changes in the world of technology. Students learn mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, thermal and optical devices and systems, as well as circuit and system analysis, to prepare them for careers in various technology-related fields as an electronic technician, instrument technician, or field service engineer.
  • Electronic Wireless CommunicationElectronic Wireless Communication
    Students are instructed in the essentials of electronic wireless communication, including multi-carrier wireless technologies such as CDMA, GSM, EV-DO, WiFi, BlueTooth, and WiMax. They also learn the methods of delivery for converged media such as enhanced voice service, streaming audio, video and business related services, real-time traffic analysis, and telephony, in addition to the development of effective communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills, and a working knowledge of wireless security.
  • Health Information Management: Health Information TechnologyHealth Information Management: Health Information Technology
    Students can obtain an Associate Degree in Health Information Technology in 8 months after completing Fountainhead's Medical Coding Certificate program. This curriculum provides quality training in the essentials of health information management, featuring coursework on reimbursement methods, regulatory guidelines, healthcare compliance, legal and ethical issues, data quality, organizational resources, healthcare statistics and research, health services organization, and healthcare communication technologies to prepare students for careers in the medical field.

  • Radiological Protection TechnologyRadiological Protection Technology
    This Associate of Applied Science program teaches the fundamentals of radiation safety, contamination control, and emergency preparedness, while covering advanced topics such as chemistry, technical writing, and nuclear power plant operation. Graduates often gain employment in the energy industry as radiological protection technician, health physics technician, or health and safety technician.
