Overview
Ameritech College was founded in 1979 in Provo, Utah. In 2005, Ameritech added an additional campus in Draper, Utah. Both campuses offer technical training to students who want to move into employment in medical professions as quickly as possible. Ameritech emphasizes the practicality of its curriculum so that everything learned in the classroom can be immediately applied in the real world. Ameritech's programs include Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant and Surgical Technologist.
Student Appeal
At Ameritech College, students take courses to prepare them for the real world by including practical, hands-on learning activities. Courses can be easily completed while working full-time and juggling a busy family life, and students receive job placement assistance upon graduation. - Dental AssistantDental Assistant
This is a 38-week program and is at the Provo campus. Students learn the necessary skills and knowledge required to assist a dentist or hygienist. Students learn about patient preparation, chair-side assisting, front office skills, radiology techniques, laboratory procedures, and much more. Graduates of this program are able to sit for the Certified Dental Assistant and/or Registered Dental Assistant exams. - Dental Laboratory TechnicianDental Laboratory Technician
This program trains students to perform entry-level responsibilities in dental labs. Students are taught using the Productivity Training Corporation Skill Learning System for creating precisely fabricated crowns and bridges. Graduates can expect to enter entry-level jobs as Dental Lab Technicians. - Medical AssistantMedical Assistant
This is a 34-week program and is located at the Provo campus. The program helps students acquire entry-level skills they will use in medical offices and in clinics. Graduates can apply for entry-level jobs as Medical Assistants. - Medical Dental Office ManagementMedical Dental Office Management
The Medical Dental Office Management program requires 34 weeks to complete, and it is offered at the Provo campus. Students acquire the necessary skills and knowledge needed to work in an administrative capacity for dentists and physicians. Students take a wide variety of courses on topics including communications, public relations, business math, English, medical and dental insurance billing and coding and ethics. Graduates may sit for the CPC or CPC-H credentialing exams. - Surgical TechnologistSurgical Technologist
The Surgical Technologist program requires 45 weeks to completed, and it is offered at the Provo campus. In this program, students learn the skills and knowledge they need to assist in surgical operations and procedures under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. Some of the many skills taught in this program include preparation of the operating room, observing vital signs, checking charts, and transporting of patients. Graduates are well-prepared to sit for the Certified Surgical Technician credentialing exam.
