Liberty University is a Christian school, I feel it is an excellent school for Christian careers. I feel Liberty is like most online schools they are very money driven. However, if you are preparing for a career in Christina Counseling, Ministry, Pastor, etc then Liberty is great. I would recommend Liberty but depending on your career interest, you may want to look at and compare other school programs.

As someone without a religious background, I was worried about taking classes at Liberty.. but they were local and offered a great DLP program so I applied. The DLP program is exceptional and I am finding it to be quite intellectually challanging. As a psychology major I have found the classes and texts used in DLP to be secular and science-based... there are some papers that are asked for from a christian perspective, but the learning (in DLP) leans more toward secular flavor, and the texts are strictly secular (Psychology 8ed and The Developing Person Through the Lifespan, 6ed both by Worth Publishers). There are some religious based classes that are required.. but I found them to be interesting and in depth and informative... The professors are prompt and very helpful in their replies.. the DLP format is easy and efficient.. I have found the classes to be very challanging, and they are more apt to require critical thinking over memorization. As a DLP student I recommend LU DLP to anyone regardless of whether they are Christian or not.. Cost is low. $250 a credit hour and I have been given all the financial aid that I needed. The DLP classes are intensive as they are in a 8 week format, and self discipline.

Liberty University is a school that has a lot going for it, yet its teachers and administration seem to think it is the end-all, “world's most exciting university”, which is just not true. It's a decent school, good Psychology program with good teachers. Seriously consider before you go to LU whether or not there is a better option for you. I personally wish I had looked at other options first, myself- however I would not change my decision to attend Liberty.

The online learning wasn't available and courses were taught using VHS tapes and all exams were proctored. The video's were sent via US mail and I was required to ship them back at the end of the course. Each course had a syllabus, books, study material, and lessons to be completed. The video course ran from 45 minutes to two hours. Professors could be reached via telephone and were available during a specific time and/or would contact you if you left a message. I felt the overall experience was excellent and I was able to use some of what I learned to obtain a position at a counseling center.
