Developed by the Motorola Company in 1990, Six Sigma is a set of statistical methods used in business settings to improve organizational activities, process wastes and weaknesses, and reduce errors. The system is based on five steps defined as the DMAIC which includes Defining the project improvement goals and issues, Measuring the process performance, Analyzing the causes of problems, Improving the operations with better, cheaper, and faster methods, and Controlling the policies and procedures set into place.
